Hi. Do we need to download and install the amd dual core optimiser software for the athlon 64 X2 dual core processor? I cannot find the link, so can somebody provide a link?

You don't have to download it however I have found it has increased my PC's performance by a reasonable amount. Here is a direct link for you, and here is a link to the download page.

Thanks for the immediate response. May I ask why windows xp needs the optimisation software? Is it because athlon 64 X2 dual core are not designed to work with windows xp? I am using xp home btw, for your info.

Besides that, I find your case kinda fanciful to me and am thinking of changing the current case(asus erm model??). So may I know what is the name of your case and did you actually added any LEDS to make it a very interesting case to be viewed?

its not necessarily a windows problem, it occurs where application designers dont allow windows api's to control the the application timing, instead they use the time stamp counter (RDTSC) (api's have a higher overhead then directly assessing the RDTSC). Using RDTSC on dual core is not great as the time stamp of the 2 cores can get out on alignment (a problem made worse by individual core power saving methods), therefore an application can no longer reliably get the time stamp it needs. This application from AMD simply aligns the 2 time stamps every so often.
Its not rocket science, and only a handfull of programs should be using the RDTSC these days. The result should be that it balances out the use of the cores
