artic silver and cm case question

Does anyone knows what is a thermal compound such as the artic silver 5 used for and is it neccessarily to have one seeing that its not a big cost? Does it have LED at the same time?
Also for the coolermaster cavalier 3 casing with side window pc case, is it possible to chuck in a case fan as there are no holes at the window side?

Thermal Compounds are used a a layer between the CPU and the heatsink/fan. They fill in microscopic gaps and conduct heat away from the CPU better than metal-to-metal. Arctic Silver 5 is awesome. I installed some 3 days ago and already see an 8*C drop in CPU temp at idle.. I also put some on my NB chipset and saw a 4*C drop in temp. It's $5, plus shipping at newegg (not avail from Tiger). Well worth it.

What do you mean exactly for the case question? It has a CPU duct that allows the CPU fan to suck in cool air directly. You could probably ad an 80mm fan though if you took the duct off.

What I eamnt wa the side of the case window where people can check in a LED fan to decorate their case further.

Sorry for any confusion with my first reply. Is this your case?

That is an side panel 80mm fan slot. It is used (in your way) to "decorate", but it also blows fresh cool air to the CPU cooler.
