60C is fine for a Core 2 Duo/Quad under load, but once you start pushing close to 70C, you need to be careful and consider lowering the voltage or upgrading the cooler.

62.2C is your theoretical max temp, you shouldn't be hitting this under load, if you are, try to either lower voltage, try lapping your hsf (it's cheap, just time consuming) or maybe try remoutning it with a better thermal paste, or get a better fan for it.

I'd think core temps (program) temps are right, but you said your getting in the 70s load? i don't think thats good, you need to lower it.

He also meant well under 50C while *Idle* not under load, 63C should be your absolute max, and even then, not under a sustained period of time. so aim for <60C load.

And wow, thats a pretty nice oc guide, i was looking for one earlier and i think that one will do the job, goes into detail about everything.

I'm not saying your wrong, since you got that information from the Intel site, but I dont believe thats the max temp for the processor. It sounds like it's more the "maximum recommended temperature". Since mine as well as many others have theirs reach from 60-70C under load with no problem, but once I hit around 72-75C, the computer became unstable.

Yeah, maximum recommened temp sounds better. nice to see that they are still functional above that temp under load, not sure how that would effect life expectancy though, can't be too good for it.
 
on idle at 3ghz my cores are at 58 56 54 and 58 average celcius...D:

EDIT: well I didn't think the extra .8 volts and 80 C load temps were worth it, so i downclocked back to 2.8ghz with 1.26v. (min I could have on 3.0ghz was 1.33790v for a stable...I lowered ram timings to 4-4-4-12 and put it at 800mhz with the same fsb, which was 333mhz). any other quad owners have any advice for going to 3ghz with a lower voltage?

here's my score which went down 4000 points with only a 200mhz difference 0_0

Sorry to be a n00b, but what to the scores really mean, what does it measure... what is a good score and why... it seems like everyone overclocks, would I see a noticeable difference if I did?
 
just managed 11310 with temps around 38c

Overclocked the C2Q to 3.2ghz for it, reduced it back down now though as i dont really need the processor overclocked, just thought i would see what it could do :)

depends on the CPU you have and how far you overclock it. but either way you will see a difference in performance when you do. I did.
