Windows XP file retrieval from temporary user account

A couple of months ago, my Windows XP had went into temporary user mode. Not sure if this is the right term, but after a crash, I could only login on a temporary account. It also noted that any information that I saved would be removed on each start up. I ended up NEVER shutting the computer off (in a lazy attempt) to keep my files stored on the HD, until I had a power failure. Now the files that I had are gone. Is there anyway I can retrieve those files?
 
So the problem is you cannot access the data in your account folders? If so, then the solution is simple...

Run a live linux distro such as Ubuntu liveCD to hopefully recover your files to a USB drive.

No, the problem is, Windows was logging me onto a temporary account. Any files saved in "My Documents", or "My Pictures" would be deleted if you restarted the computer. For some reason, any file that I saved in the C: drive was exempt from it. I had some documents, and pictures in the folders I mentioned above that was deleted when I had a power failure. I'd like to know how could I go about retrieving it. . . .

this problem still hasn't been solved by MS nor is there any fix for it, you can try data recovery softwares but i don't think it will recover anything.
the account is corrupted man, stop using it
