computer time failed to be corectly set

As the above title goes, I have a hp desktop about 3 to 4 years old running on p4 windows xp. Somehow the clock keeps resetting itself 24hours behind after every reboot and I have to manually rest the time repeatly which is annoying. Does anyone knows what is the causes of this? I suspect its a virus what do you think?

Sounds like the motherboard battery is going dead. Or the motherboards bios time is off.

Thanks for the quick reply. So is it always the battery which causes the time to be incorrectly displayed? I some how and somewhat just keep feeling that its a stupid virus/malware/bug that is causing this. Do you think there is such a possibly?

Check the Bios time then you could post a HJT log in the Computer Security section.

Did you set to the correct time zone at windows? could it be auto update of time?

BIOS time, probably, battery, probably not, as if it's still plugged in, power is still flowing...
