Need the fastest graphics friendly full tower available for 1000-1500$

Ok. I have a 10 year old tower with the fastest processor and most ram available at that time. It is still very fast, but I can't add anymore ram (I have the first DDR available) and the hard drive is full and I'm using a 80GB backup drive to keep things going. Can't do any complex graphics for about a week. This means I finally have to retire my baby, and bring in new technology. So I need a full tower with a lot of slots, a very fast processor, excellent graphics card, CD and DVD burner, some good internet protection software, network setup. The other thing that would be great is some useful software freebees or at least, cheapees. I need RAM, lots of it. So to all you geniuses out there with the current know how- give it your best shot. Tell me how to build the tower I need for under 1000 dollars. I don't need anything else but the tower, and don't want anything fancy in the way of a case. I'll be watching to see what you recommend. Just remember to give me the whole list. Thanks. If I don't have to build it myself, so much the better.

 You expect to spend 1k on a case I can get 1/10th that price.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811144187
Your case with 500w psu $100

I think you worded that wrong let me try a few things to get what I think you want.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128050
A Kickass motherboard. $130

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115017
Quad Core Processor $280

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231136
Your Memory 4GB $140

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150173
Graphics Card $300

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824009118
A monitor $150

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148262
250GB HDD $70

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827129007
Optical Drive $30

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16832116204
And for all that ram you need a 64 bit operating system so Vista it is. $112

All adds up to $1312. adds up quick don't it.

This is including a monitor but no keyboard and mouse (because thats more personal preference). If you have a monitor you can shave $150 off that price.

Edit: get oscaryu1's motherboard it's cheaper.

Now, let me critique you...

1) Case is overpriced, the PSU wouldn't hold an P3 without blowing... And you think an 500W CASE Psu will power an Q6600 with an 8800?

2) Why not the P35-DS3L or P31-DS3L or the 650i/680i? I doubt that is even "kickass"... Something like that would be the x38...

3) ClutIT has an Q6600 with an G0 stepping and it's cheaper, so you get 2 things at an less price.

4) Now thats an laugh, just scroll down to 4x (1GB) and click that? HA. XMS2 is your best choice for now... There's the ones for $41 , just get 2 sticks (like I listed) and you save $40 for the same performance RAM...

5) If you haven't learned yet... THE 8800GTS GETS SMOKED BY THE GT... And it's only what... 2 more days or so before some become in stock again?

6) *Ahem*
I don't need anything else but the tower
.. And I doubt 16MS is going to get him anywhere near gaming...

7) For that price + shipping you could've just gotten an SATA DVD Burner model... more performance for the same amount of $

8) I'd get -> http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822144701

9)
I don't need anything else but the tower
And probably not an O/S either don'tcha think? And Vista Basic Upgrade can be purchased offa ebay for $50...

All adds up to $1312. adds up quick don't it

Sure does... why not read what he wants and his budget? $300 over is quite alot if you haven't noticed

I don't think he needs those extras.

1) sorry I didn't pick the almight antec 900 oooh everything else sucks compared to that. And I didn't know 500w wouldn't power that.

2) It's kickass because it's high quality and relativly cheap.

3) Good find thanks.

4) I just got lazy sorry.

5) Yes I have learned I just don't want everyone to buy them so the stores run out again. :P

6) I'm a complete noob when it comes to monitors, so what does that mean?

7) No comment

8) I did pick that HDD

9) He[?] said $1000 - $1500.

Kill Bill -

1) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145590 <- Much better price, 2 sticks vs 4 sticks won't matter much, especially if it's that much money more.

2) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148136 <- *ahem* seems like the same thing.. but $30 cheaper... I doubt he'll need RAID either... why not an 1TB altogether?

3) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827106070 <- SATA DVD... Better. And LightScribe is just an waste of $$$ on lightscribe"able" disks...

4) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817341002 <- Much better for the price...

5) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128059 <- SLi is an waste if your not going to use it. But SLi is not even worth it... so basically buying it? By the time you SLi, you could've bought an better card altogether.

6) No G0 stepping, I'm thinking the B3 stepping? 2nd revision (g0) = More efficient, cooler. ClubIT has the G0 model for less than Newegg, but with better features.

7) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814122040 <- Same thing different manufacturer. I'd go with EVGA/ASUS on this occasion though.

[treadjack]Dam why don't we have PM's

Anyway thanks.

@experienced people

My build is going to cost me about $1300 which is kindof eating me up inside, I really wanted to get it under 1K. The problem is I really really really want the 8800gt and the C2D E6850 which is over half the price right there. I'm contemplating to either bite the bullet and buy it as is or downgrade one.

This computer won't be used for ultra high end gaming but will be used as a cad workstation (for thoes of you who don't know you need a good graphics card) I don't know how it is on CPU usage. My dad, an engineer, says I need the higher clock speeds, but I'm not sure.

What do you think I should do?[/treadjack]

1) First part sarcasm or not? 2nd part, 500W would power it, but an CASE psu would burn it out the moment you turn it on. That 500W would probably had trouble powering an P4...

2) And I'm guessing you picked it because ____? DDR3? First "P35" on the list?

3) Thank You

4) Sarcasm again? You shouldn't mix honest opinions with sarcasm. They get mixed.

5) We're trying to help people get the best deal, not keep Newegg's GT's in stock.

6) Less MS, the faster the image appears. Ghosting happens when the MS becomes too high, it's when the pixels of the LCD's can change fast enough. This makes an "blur" happen, when part of the pixel changes... CRT's have 0MB, as they use color guns an immidiately appear on the screen.

7) So you disagree or agree?

8) Price, yes. Manufacturer, no. Seagate hasn't served me that well. Even though the response times are slower, I had never had an WD fail on me, unlike Seagate...

9) *AHEM*

Does that even matter in helping to build an computer?

Make another thread for this, but I'll do what I can for now.

$1300 - Q6600, 8800GT, 250GB, P31, 4GB, DVD Burner, Antec 900, 700W

Thats what I got for you from my mind's memory.

E6850? Why not the Q6600? More cores the better remember? When more softwares come out that support 4 cores, you'll be in the tops than in 2 cores.

Your dad is wrong. Take the 8600 for instance, the core speeds are faster, but does it beat the 8800GTS? Nope. Way down it's league. For hardcore gaming AND great CAD (computer aided drawing right?), check out the Nvidia Quadros.. (but they're in the $1xxx-$3xxx)
