when i checked the benchmark scores it said that the x1950 pro had more fps in average than the 7900gs so why would the 7900gs be better?

In all those tests, the 7900 GS got better FPS.

What benchmark did you look at?

definately the x1950pro that card wasnt beaten in its class

They're pretty close, but I'd pick the 7900gs simply because it uses less power.

1950 series, all; 450w, 30a +12v
7900gs; 350w, 20a +12v

Then again if you have a hardy PSU that wouldn't matter.

i have a 500w psu so that not being a problem would the x1950pro be the better choice?

well having a 1950 myself and my bro in the next room with a 7900 , i can play COD4 maxxed out he has to have it on medium settings

i have a Athlon 3800 he has a 3600 and we both got 1gb of ram so similar systems bar a minor few mhz in processor speeds
