currently im running a 7900 GS 256MB PCI-E video card, an Amd Athlon x2 4200+, and 2 gb of corsair pc5300 ddr2. it runs most games at maximum or near max setting with smooth frame rates. i recently just bought crysis. it is truly a incredible game. i can only run the graphics at medium. it looks good on medium, awesome jungle scenes. the question i have, should i consider updating my graphics card. i was thinking about buy a 8800 GT 512 MB card from best buy for $249. how much of an improvement is it over my current card? Is directx 10 worth the upgrade cost? the 7900 i currently have is still a very good graphics card, however i cant imagine what this game would look like at high or very high settings with directx 10. how much more performance does that card truly offer? i was also thinking of maybe keeping my 7900 and maybe building an SLI system. i think the concept is really cool. 2 7900 GPUS would produce alot of graphics power. i would have to upgrade my motherboard, right now i have a single slot gigabyte motherboard. i would go with a 2 gigabyte Pci-e slot board. i love gigabyte, they offer a very good package, they are dependable and are reasonable on the cost aspect. i have alot of other games that support directx 10 as well. company of hereos, gears of war, crysis, flight sim x, world in conflict, and several other games i own support directx 10. also many of the most current and upcomming titles are directx 10 supported. i am aware that i would have to run vista, i own a copy of vista basic, although i prefer xp so i am currently not running vista, changing over would be no big deal.
