So i currently have a 939 X2 3800+ in a brand-name pc so i cant overclock. I want to upgrade to AM2 and since i want to OC but i have never done it, i thought the 4000+ would be a good choice for a beginner just in case something goes wrong, its a cheap cpu. Also, fyi, im happy with my current 3800+ speeds so i dont need any of the 6000+ or even 5000+. I want to upgrade mainly because im curious about OC'ing but i can't do it on this mobo cause is from a brand computer.

Regarding cooling, I'll be using this cooler that came as a combo when i bought the 3800+, will it be enough to keep the 4000+ cool while OC'ing?

thanks for any comments :)

Ok, but have you picked out a motherboard yet. Remember, some motherboards overclock very well, others do not.

Also, if you are going to buy a new motherboard, why not buy a new AM2+ board, then buy a cheap cpu for it, then if in the future you want to upgrade, you will be able to.

AM2+ is the new standard for AMD boards. It has the revised Hyper Threading standard 3.0 and the new PCI-E standard of 2.0. It will run the newest CPU's coming out.
