ok, so i turn on my computer. everything is good for the most part until i got to the windows boot screen. now i havent even been looking at that screen for a couple seconds and my computer has turned off. it always dies right when its loading windows. my fans all run fine when its in the BIOS and i dont think its my hard drive or my power supply. can someone help me? im pretty sure its either my motherboard or processor. please help.

Power supply would be my first answer. Could you list the specs of your computer? And most importantly, the power supply?

I doubt it's the motherboard OR processor...

the power supply is raidmax - it came with the case. i know that case power supplies suck but i didnt bother to get another one. but yeah im pretty sure the processor is over heating or i fried the mother board because i saw a thread on it and all the people had the same exact problems with their computers and it was caused by those things.

my computer is custom. abit nf-7 mobo. ATI radeon 8500 graphics card. 15 gb maxtor master drive and 120 gb maxtor slave drive. AMD athlon 2500+ processor that i haven't overclocked. 1gb ddr2 ram. not a very good computer but i still want to know whats wrong.

Case supplies can't power a P3 correctly. When booting up, feel the power supply, is it warm? Whining? How many watts? Amperage?

it's a 420 watt power supply - i never had any problems with it before but right afetr i installed some new fans in my case, this started happening. did i bumb the CPU or what?

Post your specifications. Could be that your PSU was already on the brink of unsufficiency... and the case fans just brought it over... :P

Might want also to look for shorts on the case...

ok, it is a AMD athlon 2500+, 15 gb maxtor boot drive and 120 gb maxtor slave. abit nf-7 motherboard. ATI radeon 8500 graphics card. 1gb kingston RAM. um i think thats all.

Go into your bios and see what your cpu temps are. If they are above 70c or close to it, then it's your cpu over heating. Remove your cpu fan and clean both surfaces, then reapply some new thermal paste.

Let us know what your temps are so we can go from there.

Hmm, try safe mode in Windows, then see what happens. Also make sure you didn't switch a part right before that....

And check temperatures like paratwa said :)

i havent switched my mobo and it shuts off when trying to load anything. it wont boot into safe mode. i applied new thermal compund to the heatsink/processor and i got it to boot up from windows but then it just shut off again after about a half hour. i really need help here
