Honestly, my favorite way, is to check newegg.com. You can specify what you are looking for in a Mobo, like chipset, amount of ram, and much more. The reviews on there seem to be pretty helpful.

i looked at alot them boards and the reviews and i hear nuthin but good things bout asus but then on reviews every other review is something bad bout asus??? and my buddy keeps tellin me to get a amd over the intel. he says that everyone has intel cause its just been around forever?? this is making me sick i wish i knew alot more bout comps :(

You're buddy is an AMD fan boy. Intel's Core 2 Duo's are the best CPUs on the market. I've heard ASUS makes great boards, especially for OC'ers; The only bad thing I've heard about them is their support isn't the greatest and their boards are picky about ram.

Well the answer to that question is yes and no. Intel's quad core are phenomenal processors. However many many programs are not written to utilize 4 cores. Many programs are still not written to even utilize 2 cores. However if you google some benchmarks about the Q6600 and usally the E6850 you'll find that at stock speeds the E6850 and similar C2D do better than Q6600 at stock speeds in most benchmarks. Once both are overclocked, the Q6600 starts taking the lead.

so if i was guna do some overclocking then the q6600 be the way to go???and the whole mother board finding is driving me nuts lol i deff wanna get the nvidia 680i chipset and like i said befor i was looking at the evga and xfx sli boards and then im still clueless bout asus boards that striker extreme looks crazy lol with all them copper pipes

EVGA and XFX motherboards are both made by Foxconn. Stick with a Asus or a Gigabyte board.

yup. Asus usually produce good ocing board. However, most ppl said they are hotter than other. And their quality seems not as good as before.
From what I had heard is, unless you are buying the higher end MB, Gigabyte/ MSI is the way to go

I have the P5N32-E Sli and like it alot .I'm running the E6850 C2D and have it overclocked to 3.5ghz and running stable. If you choose an Asus board be sure to do your research on memory compatibility, as their boards can be picky with memory.

thats same board i might get the asus P5N32-E Sli my buddy was looking around for me and he thinks it will be awsome board but i think it says its 650i chipset or should i say screw it it and get the 680i chipset???

It has the nForce 570 southbridge
NVIDIA® Dual X16 SLI
(C55+MCP55P; a.k.a. nForce®650i SLI & nForce®570 SLI)

okay well im narrowing it down to name brands its either guna be a asus ,gigabyte ,and msi. ive read alot of reviews and gigabyte and msi seem to have alot less negative comments. now can someone point me in direction of good 680i chipset and sli board.
