does ati tool work to overclock my 8800gts, and if so what is the max temp it should reach being on constantly, right now idle its 61 i believe

ati tool will work with any of the nvidia cards. I actually guided someone to OC his nvidia card using ATI Tool as before he was using something like Rivatuner or coolbits. Afterwards everything ran a lot smoother for him from using it. Your temp seems fine at idle but what is the load temp?

nice i like it better then riva tuner, riva tuner seems a bit more complicated but when i overclock it does it need to always be open, and when i restart will it go back to stock settings again

It doesnt need to be open to keep the overclock, go into settings? press the startup tab near the top of the window, select which Profile you want loaded on startup and which method of startup you want, now your overclock will be automatically set when you boot into windows:)

ATI Tool works on the 8800GTS, and is my favorite program as well. However ATI Tool doesn't work well with Vista.

You still using Vista?, I haven't been around for a few months..

I believe the ATi Tool / Vista problems have disappeared now, been using them myself and havent had too many problems for a few months now, only time you cant OC, is when theres BETA Drivers being used.

There is 1 weird twig though, around 1/8 boots you'll get a 'video card change detected' clocks set to defaut (something like that).. Just requires a simple reboot though:)

I'm using Vista now (for like the 5th time, haha).

Unless they released a new version of ATI Tool within the past few weeks, then it doesn't work. You can install and run ATI Tool, however because of Vista's security features you can't install the low-level driver required for it to detect the settings of the card and to overclock, unless you change some settings in the OS.

 Thats weird, mines been working. Do you have UAC sill enabled?

last time I checked I was using .28b IIRC
Yes UAC is disabled, although I believe you need to disable the "require device driver signatures" or something similar.

Don't know I haven't done that, just click the, install this software anyway, something like that, when its trying to install the...uhh...well one of the files for installation.

Always works fine for me, I usually click either the top ATi Tool link in google, or go to guru3d, for .27b.

Then just use some official drivers and it works first time :)

wierd, dosnt give me the option to che the setting mhz and right before it i updated the gpu, hmm wierd, i deleted it can some one give me a link to a good version of the ati tool lol and is 62c idle bad
