Ok sorry for the thread name but i made a major mistake.
I was asked to upgrade one of my co-workers address book (OE) with an updated one from her friend.
However she wanted only for 1 group.
But i on the other hand updated each and every single contact + overwriting her old ones.
So basically now she has none of her old contacts but only new ones from her friend.
is there any utility that will let me recover an old Address book.
Am pretty desperate now :(

edit : there was no restore point on the pc otherwise i would have tried it

I think it's pretty safe to say the information is lost, short of paying several thousand for low level data recovery.

I know it's a little late, but next time I would recommend exporting the contact list if you're going to try something like this that you are unfamiliar with.

OMG THE WORLDS ENDING.

That isn't thay bad, i use hotmail. And they can just get the old contacts back or you could run to mexico

She's using outlook, not Hotmail.

And it can be a major catastrophe for some users, maybe not yourself since you don't seem to know what your talking about.

outlook is an email client, hotmail is an email provider, two different things. he means he can go onto hotmail.com and get a list of all his contacts, then import them back into outlookexpress. at least i think that is what he means

I dont get ya, YOur job is to move someones address?
yeah right, get a life
He was trying to add contacts from someone's Outlook Express to someone else's but instead overwrote them.
OMG even potatoes understands

i've downloaded the utilities but haven't tried them yet, will do tomorrow

geez guys whats so hard to understand between an Email client and a webmail.
webmail = gmail, yahoo, hotmail
email cleint = Outlook express, outlook, thunderbird...duh

THIS
is the software i used to backup and restore contacts, including GROUPS which most program can't do

damn it some utilities are shareware and it recovers the 1st 10 contacts, just need a free ware one to recover it all.
I've just downloaded Address Book recovery by Diskinternals (free) and am checking if it actually recovers somethign

For example, my mom has over 2000 contacts i believe. On occasion, she needs to send out a letter to them reminding them that she is looking for work (she's a meeting facilitator). She would be in a fit if she lost all of them. Speaking of which, im gonna go back those up...

ouch i totaly feel your pain, i once was updateing out wireless and lets just say stuff happened leading to its bricking state :D

however, yeah there should be a restore sys, i would say oe would have a backup somewhere. i wish you the best. since i know how shitty you feel after your like. SH*T i am so dead!

you will get it

totally dude, i'm wacked now :D
anyways that DiskInternal thingy seems promising.
i tried it in Vm, i added some contacts, deleted them and that program successfully restored them.
This worked on vm , now to actually test it on the co-workers pc's.
note that i overwrite her contacts since friday so it' been 4 days now. i am going to her this afternoon, hope i don't screw up..lol :o
