So I am getting a new computer for Christmas. I would use this computer mainly for gaming and listening .

My budget is 1400$ with a monitor, speakers, mouse and keyboard.

Thanks

Very nice setup daisy, except he can save a couple hundred $'s with the vista. Unless he wants to waste that money on it you can get it free ;)

Get it for free?? you mean linux? This forum not allow ppl talking about those illegal stuff, although most ppl could found their way obtain one.

By the way, if it is for music, I don't know if soundcard is needed. If that is the case. I personally will drop the heatsinks or 8800GT 512MB to 256MB, and get a decent soundcard.

It seems that 8800GT 256MB is a decent card as well.

I would believe the integrated sound on that motherboard would be good enough. An audiophile might want more..

No, I have to say that the integrated sound on the motherboard is not very good at all. You will regret just settling for this if you really like to listen to music on your PC.
