Epidemik and I were having a discussion about the upcoming 2008 year. According to Gamepro.com, GTA4 is the #1 anticipated game of 2008, Saint's Row 2 #22 (http://www.gamepro.com/gamepro/international/games/features/151254.shtml).
My argument was that SR 1 had a better gameplay, a better story, and better graphics than the most recent GTA game: San Andreas. I therefore am basing my opinion on these facts.
What I am asking is in your opinion, which game, SR2 or GTA4, will be a better overall game. Not the best selling, but what you would most want to play.
I not only am asking which one would be better, but weather you have played both games (and more than just 5 minutes of the demo), or weather you have only played one.

*EDIT*
I'm sorry, I made the poll sort of misleading. I meant when I said "Have played both games" as in played GTA:SA and SR1, not the upcoming games coming out in 2008.
*EDIT*
Also, what did you like about either game, and what would you like them to change about them?

Where does it say anticipated?

It doesnt make sense basing your oppinions on a new game on facts of an older game. Many times, sequals have come out and turned a series around (both for the good or the bad). The facts on the game you are debating shows GTA4 as the superior game (Even your source shows it as a better game).

Am i the only one who feels it invalid to have an oppinion on a product based solely on a completely different product?

I say basing my opinion on the previous game is more accurate than basing it on the reviews of games not out yet. I also said which game would you enjoy more, not which one would sell better, turn the game around, or anything like that.

Aparantly this is where we disagree. I feel it more valid to base oppinions on the game you are having an oppinion rather than a different game that shares the title and maybe picks up the story line.

BTW, just because you dont have much info on a game that hasnt been released doesnt mean a reputable review source doesnt have info on the game. They generally get info before the consumer.

I also said which game would you enjoy more, not which one would sell better, turn the game around, or anything like that.

Yes, i understand...where did i say otherwize .

SR1 look good but just not as good as GTA:SA

I really like GTA:SA because the missions were good and each was different for the other ones, there is alot to explore too

What do you mean by "base oppinions on the game you are having an oppinion rather than a different game that shares the title and maybe picks up the story line". Kinda confusing. I can collaborate if you clarify.

Ok, you have a point here, but all reviews aren't valid. I'm thinking that SR 2 scored so low on the list because it's not a very well known game. Everyone knows what GTA is on the other hand, and most people who have a PS2 have owned it, or have played it a few times. If SR's reputation goes up, I'm sure it will sell as good as, or better than GTA.

You mean you haven't played SR1 before? Okay.

I really like GTA:SA because the missions were good and each was different for the other ones, there is alot to explore too
I beg to differ. IMO, SR has a bigger map, and the missions are much more diverse than the GTA:SA ones. Not to mention SR's mini-missions and whatnot.

Companies do have reputation but judging a game simply by a previous game in the series is unfair IMHO.

Tux, im sorry i got a little mad at you.
All i mean is that, i strongly disagree with your oppinion and imo, your reasoning holds little value. As i said, you are amoung a minority (nothing wrong with that) but i can also understand why you are a minority :P .

Saw that trailer earlier, looks awesome.

Yeah, I'm not bashing GTA4 at all. I believe it's going to be an amazing. I know one of my friends is going to get SR2 for the 360, and I'll probably be wanting to play it all the time, but I'm sure I'll try GTA4 as well.
