anybody tried novell or have it. im thinking about putting linux on my laptop and i was wondering what people think about this?
 
I hate novell. I had to deal with this crap in college and highschool.. IMO their mail system is junk and their logons are junk half the time it will lose your profile and be corrupt and its just junk all around.. but hey thats just MHO

Open SuSe has nothing to do with Novell. Novell does not develop it. Novell, does toss some money into it, and of course allows the open source community access to their source code.

I have worked both with Novell Netware and SLED and SLES. Novell, makes a great product, its stable and secure. They lack on quick updates, so if something is broke it may be broke for a short while. The enterprise product works a bit better than the open source one, but that is generally the case with all Linux Distros, because the pay for versions have support, and someone to yell at when things break.
