cpu: amd athlon 64 x2 5600+ @ 3.3 ghz
ram: 2 gb ddr2-667 @ 785 mhz
video card: single nvidia geforce 8800 gt oc
i don't think it's too bad for my setup... one guy was bragging about getting 9,999 3dmarks on a e6600, 2 gb of ddr2-800, and an 8800 gtx...
what do you guys think?
he probably was running windows vista. otherwise something is wrong with his system. your score is very good, but if you were running vista it would be sub 9,000
You think so? I run Ultimate, and i've been receiving horrible 3DMark06 scores.

That didn't make any sense. Running Vista is bad, but score is very good, but Vista makes score bad?
Maybe that explains my situation....I'm running Vista and have:
- AMD Athlon X2 64 5000+
- 2Gb DDR2 @ 667Mhz
- 8800GT
and I got around 9,000 and people were telling me that it was a low score for my system (although mine is also a Dell...so who knows).
However when I had my 8600GTS I ran 3dmark06 on both Vista and XP Partitions, and it only scored slightly better in XP (300 points better)
Actually, it's not that far to that... word, but it's a pretty good system.
A Q6600 with an 8800GT could be considered that

I know for cetain, in 3dmark03, you get higher scores in Vista than you do in Vista...

you don't play 3dmark06 with your video card, you play video games with you video card. It doesn't matter what os you have if you don't get better fps.
