Card recommendations? Something to upgrade from my X1900XT

I have an ATI X1900XT video card but it now looks like its shot. So I am looking for a BETTER card to replace it with. I have a single 1.1 PCI-e x16 slot on my mobo. I am a regular gamer and need a card that can run any game on all max settings with a resolution of around 1440 x 900 or 1280 x 768. My monitor will most likely consist of a 32” LCD TV so I need a card that supports 720p / 1080i and has component video or HDMI outputs.

I have a price limit of around $500. I plan to overclock the card in the future. The computer it will be used in is listed in my signature.

Also if it supported OpenGL 2.0 / DX 10 that would be nice. However it will be used on XP so I might have to get the DX10 drivers for XP.

The 3870 supports HMDI and i beleive it has sound though the hdmi also. But its $250, and you have a budget of $500.. hmm

X38 motherboard ($230) 3870 ($250)... save and add another for crossfire :P

Im not sure the big performance gain, but you can look into the new G92 GTS and i think its about $360. Though if it supports HDMI or not, im not sure..

Crossfire and SLI = Bleh. :D If I were OP, I would get an EVGA 8800gt for $250, wait till february and the geforce 9 series, then exercise your right of "step-up". He could get a top of the line card, which the 8800gt is, despite it's low cost, then exchange it and pay only the difference for a 9800 or 9900 or whatever it's gonna be.

That card isint really any better then the X1900XT other then that its 2.0 and supports DX10 / OpenGL 2.0. It has a slower CPU then the X1900XT.

If you really want a card now, then you would be nuts to ignore the 8800GT (newegg have loads in stock today *wink wink*) I am going to get a new card in August though, I want to get one of those multi-core cards (hopefully they will exist then)
