Hi ,
My friend has a comp which they have full of viruses and i've tried to clean it up once but adaware found 740 but kept freezing so couldn't clean. I can't do much like clean install of windows which is what i suspect is only way to clean it by wipping harddrive and starting over as they have a lot of files and don't want to do it. (They have a friends dad they only realy like doing this stuff, but he doesn't know what his doing) I was wondering if they was a good virus cleaner or something that might work to clean it.

Now that's serious, if you really can't even make it to use AdAware, then download and use Combo Fix . That's for desperate situations only, so...the time has come I think.

Lol

First we'll need to see a HJT log.
  • Click here to download HijackThis Installer
  • Save HijackThis Installer to your desktop.
  • Doubleclick on the HijackThis Installer icon on your desktop.
  • By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis .
  • Click on Install.
  • It will create a HijackThis icon on the desktop.
  • Once installed, it will launch Hijackthis.
  • Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad.
  • Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
  • Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.

DO NOT use the AnalyseThis button, its findings are dangerous if misinterpreted.
DO NOT have Hijackthis fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

Why bother Benji? You told me, only for critical situations... I think he mentioned it, why not strike it immediately? I say, first clean the worst!!
His comp may crush before he even posts a HJT Log! I know I have experineced it, before I didn't know ANYTHING on computers, my comp just couldn't turn on. Viruses went into registry... and I had to format disc.
Why bother with HJT Log when you can and you HAVE to clean that shit damn it!!

Simply because Combofix is a tool, to be used ONLY on some infections. We don't even know what's on his computer yet so why giving him a fix?

And combofix doesn't clean everything anyway so why not bother and take the time to clean this computer? You don't have to do it but if you do it, do it correctly ;)

well i can't backup on an external hdd and do fresh install as they don't want to do this as they have one of there friends father who they only trust to do that but he doesn't know what hes doing. Next time i'm there i'll do hjt and post results.

Yes I always only trust people that dont know what they are doing.

Are they aware how much they are contradicting themselves.

That is like saying my girlfriend has a car key and can drive so she must be a mechanic and can fix the car if it breaks down.

Is this friend a Ford driver, that would explain alot.

But seriously, reformat sounds the easiest without as much stuffing around.

yeh the thing is the friends father is like a close friend of my friends parents and thats why they trust him but one time they said he had wiped drive and done fresh install but i checked and everything was as it was with all the viruses. So i will do hjt and try to get through to them to let me do reformat.

Well if you want to reformat, HJT will be pointless.

If you feel like reformatting and not taking the time to clean the computer, it's your choice, but if you want to clean, we can help you ;)
