Preperation for Vista

Right, I think I'll be getting Vista for Christmas, what do I need to do, I mean like, should I get drivers and stuff ready on a USB stick now?

I've got this for my internet...

But I was thinking for things like my onboard sound, would I just use the ones that came on the CD with my MOBO? I don't think it has Vista ones on it...

Thanks for any help! :)

hehe finally, someone will stop using that vista theme :P
ok jokes aside, the cd that comes with your mobo is most cases is for Xp, and thus will fail to install on vista.
some mobo's are now releasing cd's with drivers for both,XP and vista.
I suggest you go to your mobo manufacturer's website and get updated drivers.

Vista should have most of your drivers so you can get on the net and download the updated drivers for your components. I don't really think Vista is worth the cost, but to each his own.

Preparation for upgrading to Vista on an older system.

Remove and throw away any hardware older than 1 year, including printers and scanners. Buy all new hardware and install.

Throw away any software older than 2 years.

:)

Yup... as long as your wireless drives work or you have wired. I just installed vista and my PCI card needed drives, but my usb wireless adapter worked with the provided drivers. After that vista will find the right drivers.

Ok sure! Thanks for that info! :)

lol i had my driver CD in my hand, right after vista installed, and ta-da! my little connection icon popped up and said i have a 100MBPS connection with my router, i put the CD down lol

trust me mate vista isnt as bad as some people make it out to be...just because one thing didnt work for them out the box they automaticly hate it lol.

when installing vista on my rig i didnt have any problems at all,and my systems old so i was suprised.
i think Vista will run alot better on your rig than Xp ever has.

So you guys are saying that if I just get Vista and connect it to the net it'll do everything for me?
I would still manually download the latest drivers from the manufacturers websites, although Vista should install most of the drivers automatically.

From the Gigabyte web site? They're all the same, it looks as if the XP and Vista ones are the same?
