I don't know the current benchmarks right off, so ti's hard to say... However, I think the 4000 will be just a TINY bit better(probably not noticable) for now. The Duel core will probably be better in the future as more games actually use it.

And, you're last link is something I was about to bring up... There are different types of 4000 and other speeds of the processors. Mostly, between those two, the San Diego has SSE3 and is on a smaller process(slightly faster, I beleive cooler, or hotter...I always forget ;P) Either way, it's probably best to get the San Diego than say the Claw Hammer series mostly just for SSE3, if anyone know where that's actually used...

That right there makes me want to get the 4200+, and the fact that it will be optimized in a short while.

id look for either of them but make shure its a brisbane core i just picked up a 4000+x2 for 60$ (brisbane core) and its super sweet i have already gotten it from 2.1 ghz to 2.37 ghz and thats just with a few tweaks
the new brisbane core runs cooler and is the newer tech cpu

well i tried to post some specs on the m.i.p.s of the diffrent cpu's but it didnt work lol

People are actually asking if dual or quad cores are better, so you're a bit behind the game :P

I would go with the dual-core, as almost all new games support at least 2 cores.

Earlier this year, I went from an FX-55 to a 4200+, was amazed at the speed increase, the 4200+ was so much faster.
