Upgrading to 4gb of RAM

Alright, I have a HP Pavilion dv2500t currently with 2gb of RAM and an Intel t7500 processor (2.2ghz).

I am currently debating whether to upgrade to 4gb of RAM mainly for gaming, but I have a couple of questions.

Are there any downsides or concerns if I upgrade to 4gb, possibly like over heating???

Also I tried to do a little research on what type of memory sticks I would need but it is all too confusing and I don't want to screw this up. So if you could tell me what to get or help me find out that would save me a lot of time and frustration.
 
If you have a crappy video card you would see a larger increase with upgrading that. 2-4gb isnt to much a a performance booster..

I have a Nvidia 8400GS which is a "turbo cache" card. I am currently playing Call of Duty 4 MW on it with no lag (low graphic settings).....(Graphics are still AMAZING!):)

Hmmm. so aside from gaming, there's not a big performance boost? Interesting.

And yes, I know it can hold 4gb.

So is it safe to say everyone that doesn't say which video card they have, they have a 8400GS?

If you want to know what will be the best system improvement, we need to know your system. AND by telling us it is an "HP Pavilion dv2500t" doesn't mean it is stock... Just means you are either to lazy or stupid to build your own system. No insults here, just trying to display why I would post my above post.. We need more info...

....What's the deal?

I was just telling what card I had so you could tell me it 4gb would improve gaming.

Here are my a few of the specs

HP Pavilion dv2500t
Windows Vista 32bit
Intel t7500 (2.2ghz)
2gbs RAM
Nvidia Geforce 8400GS

Is it true you can't run 4gb of ram on a 32bit OS? I read some where that you can't with 32bit XP, but you can with 32bit Vista...
 
there is no point in getting 4gb of memory with a 32bit os because the os will only recognize 3gb of memory.
 
how big is the hdd i have a windows xp pro sp2 running 512MB of ram and it is quick as hell do you need that much ram i would not if it is windows xp if windows vista utimate yes go for it other than that i would not sorry.
