I have a desktop computer and two laptops. My computer is connected to my router through an ethernet cable and my laptops are connected to the router wirelessly. Everything was working perfectly until i tried to get my ps3 online, and i think Ive messed something up.
Now my computer will not connect to the internet, but both laptops still work just fine. When i open up internet explorer, i get the message (internet explorer cannot display this webpage.
I have no idea why my computer suddenly cant connect to the internet. All i know is that when everything was working, i had 3 connections under >control panel> network and internet connection> network connections. But now one of them is gone.
All i basically want to know is how can i get my computer connected back to the internet?

please help, thanks.

Aces77, Welcome to the forums!!

Can you ping the router from the desktop?

Have you checked the device manager to see if your NIC is working properly?

Have you double checked the the cable and connections from the desktop to the router?

Sorry, I'm really dumb when it comes to computers, that's why i came here. :o

What do you mean by ping?

Ive checked the device manager and i cant see any NIC. Also, what the hell is an NIC?

Yes, the connections are exactly the same as when it was all working.

Ping means that you click on Start-Run and type cmd then write "Ping 192.168.1.1" (without the quotes) or whatever your router's IP address is.

NIC means Network Interface Card, He asked if you can see it in the device manager to make sure it is installed properly and working fine.

Last thing check the cable and make sure it is connected.

Do you know which connection is missing? There should be one there that say "Local Area Connection." Is it there?

Sorry for all of the questions, I am just trying to get an idea of what might have changed.
