my dad is thinking about buying this card i just wanted to get some help on how good it is he will play games like fear, stalker, world in conflict an some deasent games like these any comments will be great thanks

Question - 8500GT 256MB, Good or Bad?

Answer - Neither. Horrible. People look at it because of the DX10 feature... go with a 8600GT or a HD3850. If not, go with a 7600GS or some other card that ISN'T is a 8500/8400.

Horrible.

It's not "horrible" Oscar, it's just not for gamers. You saying my card is horrible because it's not high-performance would be like me hating on your processor because I don't overclock anything.

The 8500 GT is great for relieving the CPU and system RAM for basic 3D apps, it supplies a DVI output, it doesn't hog energy and can be passively cooled, and it never reaches 50ºC.

But for the games you mentioned I'd also suggest at least a 8600 something-or-other. You'd have to turn a lot of settings down with the 8500.

He said his dad plays games, and oscar said it is horrible for games, then you started defending how good it was for basic 3D apps and not for gaming. Why are you getting all bent out of shape when he specifically said for gaming?

I would suggest getting something like this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130075 because it games a lot better for a few more dollars.

The 8500GT is not the best card for gaming. It will let you play but definitely not fluently or with nice fps, also don't expect to get High or maybe even Medium settings on those kind of games.

Your best choice would be if you're on a budget, the 8600GT or if you're not go straight for the HD3850. ;)

Actually, he didn't say it was horrible for gaming, he just said it was horrible period. How did you get off of ignore, sir?

Edit: Oh yeah, and no one was bent out of shape before you spewed your stupid all over the place. I simply corrected Oscar's poor choice of words and agreed that a higher-end card would be good for the games the OP mentioned. So yeah, you were pretty much as wrong as you can get. Stop following me around.

O sorry, i go around finding all your posts on this forum and oppose them. yeah it's what i do for fun, but ill find something else to do.

The subject was gaming and he replied that it was horrible, and you started going off on how it was a decent card for non-gaming purposes, but it's not what he asked.
