I just bought an external hard drive and now want to get an internal 500 GB + since I have an empty spot in my CP.

My ssytem was built about 5 years ago and has an AMD Athlon XP Barton. How can I tell what type of internal hard drive will be best or does it matter?

I am looking at an SATA WD HD right now for 95.00

5 years is pushing it a bit to expect your motherboard to ahve SATA on it... could you provide a model number of the motherboard at all or even a picture of different parts of it...

If you can't get any of those things, then I would recommend looking at IDE drives

Nah,My motherboard has 2x Sata ports on it,But i should say that your drives would be IDE.

I just bought an external Western Digital SATA SERIAL ATA 750G, did I make a huge mistake?

My board is an ASUS Deluxe A7N8X-E

My user guide says that there are 2 Serial ATA channels.

i have 2 drives now and bought an external and I am thinking of adding another external or internal, what do I do?

external SATA is a completely different thing unless you are planning on ripping the drive out of its external casing and putting it in your PC?

If it's an external drive then it doesn't matter if it's SATA or IDE, because it uses either a USB or FireWire interface.
