Performance increase when breaking in new CPUs

i read a few times on threads that when you have a bran new processor, you should break it in. is this really true?

and how exactly would i break it in? does that mean pushing it to the max (100% CPU usage) for 24 hours?

You dont break in a cpu at all(at least I dont think you do) I think what they mean is when you build a computer you use Arctic Silver 5 or any other thermal compound and you have to let the compound break in for about 200 hours before you overclock it cause then the temps will settle.

I was thinking of getting me one of those 165's.. Instead I went with a $60 X2 3800+.. Damn chip doesn't OC well from the BIOS, nevertheless I got it to 2.8 stable. You beat me with that toledo. :D

Yep, 1.8 - 3.08 benhmarkable, you got a good chip, cos my old 3800 x2 only got to 2.65, it was the older chip version though
