Got 4gig memory but thinking of returning.. need some advice

Hello,

I bought a 4gig Corsair TwinX 2048Mb DDR2-6400. There 2 sticks. The only big confusion I have is that, the memory I got has a CAS Latency of : 4-4-4-12 and the memory I was thinking of getting is an OCZ EPP 4Gb (2X2048Mb) PC2-6400 DDR2 Dual Chan SLI Cert which has a CAS Latency of : CL 5-4-4-15.

I just bought the corsair memory yesterday and I was thinking of returning it, but I am not sure if its really worth returing it and getting the ocz. I am not going to overclock or anything, but I will be using my pc for 3d modelling, rendering and encoding also some games. So what do you guys rekon?
 
LOL sorry, the pc tech guy in the shop told me 15 has a increased performance then 12. I have no idea. So your saying 12 is better?

btw is lower better or higher? still confused.
 
Yes, lower the latency the better. Your tech guy was either trying to trick you or has no idea what he's talking about :).
 
those numbers are related to latenies. lower the better

anyway most guys working in the computer stores aren't always correct. especially at microcenter where they focus more on selling you items for commision

haha, thats PC tech's for ya. But yes, lower is better.
 
Lol, I knew the lower the better but that guy looked more matured so I thought he knew something more. I am not a newbie lol that guy really confused me with all his calculations lol! Anyways thanks for clearing it up. One more thing, I was going to buy a w/d raptor, but is it worth it? I know its 10000rpm. I just want to use the raptor for os alone and the sata hdd for appz. The confusion here is that I know the raptor will increase the performance for the os, but will it increase the performance of the applications? e.g. autodesk 3ds max.

IMO Raptors are overpriced, although if price isn't a major factor then I would get a Raptor for the OS and apps, and a larger drive just for the data.

It will increase transfer rates, and decrease read/write and loading times, although not by much.
