Hey, I hope you don't mind but I will be posting all of my questions I have about the current PC I am building in this thread. All future questions will be posted here as well.

Thanks

ok so the motherboard doesnt power the fans at all, just controls them. So that mean I plug them both the molex and three pin.

And if I'm not mistaken, only 4 pin (Not 4pin molex) have the speed control thing... although some 3pins have a controller... (or a add on controller).

I will go right now and get a picture to make sure I am going to do this right.

Here you go, there is both male and female molex and a three pin connector.

ok here we go,

if you plug a fan via molex into the PSU, there is no way for it to be controlled because how can the motherboard read it then?......exactly. So in order for it to be controlled, it has to be plugged into the motherboard. Or you could always use a fan controller.

I have another question.
Will all I/O shields included with the motherboards fit into any case? Or are they only certain ones that will fit into each case?

Just bumping my thread again. I know it's old but I am now able to continue my build because I now have the money again. Some things happened which caused me to hold off for a bit. But anyways here is the update.

What I have so far:

Case - Thermaltake Armor
HDD - 2x WD 7,200rpm 250GB in RAID 0
Optical Drive - Lite On DVD Writer
Power Supply - PC Power and Cooling Quad Silencer 750W
Card Reader

Planned Parts for Rest Of Build (Will be asking questions later on when I am ready to buy the part)

Motherboard - Asus Rampage X48 or 790i chipset board
RAM - 4GB of G-Skill or Mushkin
CPU Cooler - Thermalright Ultra 120
CPU - E8400 or Q6700 or Q9300
Graphics Card - *Waiting till news cards come out to make decision* If I were to pick now, it would be a 3870 x2 or a 9800GTX (I don't even know if it's worth it because I play on a 1200 x 700 or somewhere around there)

Is Artic Silver 5 still the best thermal paste, or is there a better one now?

Does anybody have any experience with the EX38-DS4 and the X38-DQ6. I know they don't make the X38-DQ6 anymore, but I am wondering what the differences between the two. Which one is better?
Also what is the difference between the EX38 and the X38? Is it just bios or other things.

Well guys I am almost done my build but ran into a few problems that I need answered before my computers complete. Here is whats going on:

I am hooking up my firewire port that is on the front off my case. The connectors running off from my case have the following connectors, TPA+, TPA-, TPB+, TPM-, GROUND, (2x) VP, and (2x) VG. But the connectors to my case are different, everything is good except the VP and VG connectors. The motherboard has them listed as +12v and Ground. I assume that VG means ground and VP means the +12v. But am wanting to ask you guys before I make a mistake. (Pictures will be at bottom of page to help to show you what I am talking about).

Next Question:

Now the question evolving my USB cables. The ones running from the front of my case on have a row of 4 pins while the motherboard has the connector where there is a row of 4 pins then a row of 3 next to it (Picture will be at bottom of page to help show what I am talking about). So my question is, how do I connect my usb ports to my motherboard.
