My Future Comp...What do you think?

looks like a nice build :)
and holy mother of hell TWELVE 120mm FANS
seems like a real fanatic case

you going to do some overclocking i take it?

well, if it's a future build..then it'd probably be a good idea for the new processors/GPUs to come out.. which isn't too far off now

I would over-clock it but i don't have any experience with it. If I were to do it though I would go with the Corsair Dominator RAM and over clock everything.

If i were to over clock it I would get a water cooling system and the Corsair Dominator RAM then i would over-clock everything.

This is a future build however I will be building it in less than a month so waiting will unnecessary.

waste of money.
CPU: Wait until 20 Jan, see what performance of E8XXX
MB: at least get a 780i chip set if SLi. Or getting a X38
Optical Drive: DVD burner!
RAM: Do you really need 8GB? 2GB is standard. 4GB probably enough
GPU: SLi GTX?? plenty of money to waste... I will just go for SLi GT if really want to SLi.
HDD: Why don't you get the 32MB cache one?

There is no point in SLIing weaker cards. You must go for the big dogs otherwise a single contemporary card will blow out two cards right below in performance.

It has 5 fans.

Besides, this case is a huge waste of money. The Antec900 is $350 cheaper and will do just as well with 4 fans, cool LEDs, lots of internal 3.5s and three external 5.25 bays. Do you really need the wheels, the tool case, and the reinforcement handles? No. Save your money and buy one of the newer 45nm Intel processors that are coming out later this month.

I also disaggre with 8gbs of RAM. I see your budget can affored it, but 4gbs is fine unless you are running CAD or lots of video imaging software.

I second this. And also the case is nice but it cost more than the computer I'm typing on right now, can you say unnecessary!!!

I actually am going to wait now for the new CPU. I do a lot of video editing and it takes a while on my current PC to render everything. 8Gb may still be overkill but i will need to upgrade everything in my future PC. I will be running a very expensive DDR3 based RAM. After i did some more research, I found out that the liquid cooling system is quit terrible. I have the Antec P182 and it gets clustered with multiple opt. drives and HDD, not to mention the hell i went through to keep all wires away from my massive heatsink and fan. Plus I just wanted to try something new and I have money soooo...I went for that one.

In that case get the 8gb if you do video stuff. Also consider the newer Intel processors coming out later this month

Thats a nice chart. I think someone told me that two 8600s in SLI get matched by a single 8800. This was what I was thinking of.

The GTXs are still better according to a few benchmarks :P

But the price is better for the GTS

Hmm... really? From what I've seen, the GT is at the GTX's tail. I've seen it beat it barely in one outta a few hundred benchmarks ;) And the GTS G92 smokes the GT... thus...

Is 8GB of RAM really needed? I thought 4GB was excessive.

Unless he's a big CADD person, 8GB won't be 100% used. 4GB now a days is quite a standard... amazingly. 2GB is enough IMO, but people usually think that they need 8GB for no particular reason.

Thats odd, the last GTS benchmarks I looked at had them right on the tail of tail of the GTXs, but still inferior. Iunno, but even if they're a bit worse, they're a better value. If they're better, get me one :P

Edit: http://www.computerforum.com/108537-aftermarket-cpu-cooler-clearance-issues.html

Barely ahead on fear, but compatability issues I haven't seen before. I think there was a cumulative benchmark thing I was looking at, and that slight fps gain in a few games might've put it ahead. Go with the GTS if you can splurge on the motherboard :P

2nd edit: Just looked at the toms hardware benchmarks, its all dependent on the games. Go with the GTS :P
