I'm going to finally build a good computer for myself and I will use it for gaming and alot of college work. I will mainly focus on playing Guild Wars and COD4. Maybe WoW. I have a pavilion 320n to rip my cd drives from and will also rip out my 250 gig hard drive in there that I had replaced from the 80 gig. Plan on spending about 1000 ish

Heres are the specs so far:

Case: Antec 900 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811129021&Tpk=antec+900
Video Card: GeForce 7800GT - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130035
MotherBoard: nForce 680i - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813188015
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4 E6600 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115003
PSU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817103941&Tpk=neopower+550
RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145590

Any feedback or changes you would make? Thanks

Nice, I was thinking on building a $1000 computer too! I just asked a few days ago how much should I spend on one for gaming.

If no one make changes to your specs, I think I'll build one like yours :)

7800GT? Crap.

Agreed.

680i? Outdated, non-45nm, and crap.

The 680i is still an excellent SLi chipset, and not necessarily outdated. It will support the 45nm dual-core; however, it will never support the 45nm quad-core.

E6600? Make that a Q6600.
Yeah, you should spend the extra $40 on the Q6600.

What Motherboard and Graphics card do you reccommend? 8800GTX?

If you plan to run SLi in the future, get the 680i. If not, look at the Gigabyte P35 boards. You've probably heard of a GPU called the 8800GT. Look at that one, but seriously consider the Radeon 3870 as well.

Okies

I think this is the final revision
Mobo - GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3L LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX Intel Motherboard - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128059&Tpk=P35-DS3L

GPU: GIGABYTE GV-RX387512H Radeon HD 3870 512MB - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125086

I think those are great choices. Everyone else is gonna tell you to get the 8800GT, but the Radeon is the best value, and performs very well. What about the CPU?
