MSI, Gigabyte, Intel or EVGA P35 chipset motherboard $100
2 gigs DDR2 800 ram (maybe 4) $50 - $100
a decent videocard for pics and videos, 8800GT or 8800GTS $220
decent PCI soundcard $50
any well airflow case is fine $75-120
antec/ocz PSU around 500w <$100
HDD: 320-500gb drvie. Could have two in RAID 0/1
dual dvd drives $60
OS: vista home premium 64/32 (need 64 if 4gbs ram is wanted) $110
You really dont need to spend $1600 on this system, especially if you do not need a monitor.
