Need to build two computers for boss and a co-worker

Hi, I promised my boss and my co-worker that I'll build them a computer each. I need you guys to help me out with the parts.

Co-Worker
Budget: $500
Usage: DVD, music, surf the net, burn DVDs and music, etc. Nothing stressful

What she wants though is to have a good sound card and a surround sound system. She also wants to be able to hook her computer to a TV to watch DVD's on it (so a decent video card with that ability).

The $500 includes case, power supply, CPU, GPU, sound card, MOBO, DVD drive, DVD burner, basically... everything.. =P

Boss
Budget: $1,000
Usage: For school she said... But with that much money, try giving her something nice (my job!!!)

I don't know what she wants, but if it looks nice, runs nice, fancy, then it's all chill =]. She wants all the basic usage of a computer (I'm sure).

Thank you for your help in advance! I myself, too, will be out looking for parts and compare it with you guys and find the best option! Thanks again!

cpu-C2D's
ram- ddr2 800 ram
mobo- p35 mobo gigabyte
dvd- lite on dvdrw 20x
gpu- just for movies and things i would say a 8600gt should be fine

sry i dont have access to newegg at work, ill build one later tonight after i get home, but that was the best that i can do right now

You gave him a good run-down, but I doubt you can't access Newegg. My school computers can access Newegg, but not CoFo. You could always try TigerDirect or PriceWatch...

Regarding the co-workers budget, do they want you to spend $500, or not go over $500? For what you listed as their usage, they can spend considerably less that that, monitor included.

To oscaryu1

Accessories and OS I can take care of that myself. I do live in the US. Newegg is my first choice.

To imsati

She said that the most she'll spend is 500. If it's less, it's better.

To footballdude2k3

Thanks you! That's what I have in mind, too.

Thanks again guys! I'm looking around and I kind of have an idea of what to get.

I personally think a sound card is not necessary. I would rather use the money to get a better motherboard instead. e.g. MSI P31 Neo-F or GA-P35-DS3L

Thank you!!! Those seems to be great products. I don't need the OS so that save her about 100 bucks. That is a definitely good build. She's wants a silver tower case so I guess I'll spend the OS money on a case and find her a good/cheap 5.1 speakers system. I got to go back to work so I'll check out your 1k build when I get home. Thanks again!!!

I'd get XMS2... there's a $37 lot after rebates, faster, cheaper, and HAS A HEATSINK

I doubt he need such a sound card... That's for the most extreme gamers. I doubt he needs it. Onboard sound should be fine. After all, this $70 motherboard came with 8 channel sound ;)

I know XM2 is lots better. But the orginal price is $75 and he is building for his boss, so if the MIR don't work, it will be a bit of different.
