Incredible Deal, Scam or Inbetween? OCZ Gold ram

Hi everyone,

I've been recommended a few types of cheap/affordable ram. All these recomendation have been for 2gb (2x1gb sticks) of DDR2-800 ram for about $35-45. Great deal, but...

Then I found THIS!
So I have to ask the question: Is this some sort of scam or is this ram very bad or will the rebates not work or what? (P.S. I'm all for rebates :D)

I've always heard OCZ is a good company, so OCZ GOLD ram seems high quality. But I don't trust myself or this company, even if I just ordered my mobo from them...;)

Anyone else found ridiculous deals on ram (that aren't scams) or have any recommendations?
 
i have those same ones and they work fine. haven't received the rebates yet though. but assuming i don't get the rebates, it's still a good price
 
I also have similar RAM, but mine are "Platinum." I can't see any difference other than the name and my heat spreaders are painted silver instead of gold.

I paid $45 dollars on Newegg. You should never count on a mail-in rebate. Chances are it's not going to happen.

Yeah, so then this costs $45, and if the rebate works, its just a bonus! :D
Still a good deal imo. Plus, you can always call and harass the company if they won't give you your $$.;)
