Motherboard for Intense gaming

Hey there everyone, Im rebuilding my computer thats about 4 years old. So almost everything is getting replaced. I dont have tones of money to do it with or anything tho. I mostly spend my time playing games like Bioshock, Crysis, things along those lines. I'm looking for a Mobo (pci/pci-e) (duh) that will support playing games like this on relativly high settings. Any ideas out there for what exactly I am needing? I'm not terribly computer smart where it comes to the hardware aspect of it but I know enough. Thanks for any help i get guys

Can you give us a budget? (not necessarily a pin point number, but at least an general idea)

That way we could help you a lot more.

Oh yeah sorry, thought I had. For my graphics card im wanting to spend ~300 max. The Mobo and CPU i dont have a clue. But total im not wanting to spend much over 700. Thanks.

Alright, well list what you have right now. (Or are you wanting to make a completely new build?)

well the problem is, the computer that im remaking cant even boot up and is at my House 2 hours away (currently at college) so i cant provide the specs.... So yeah its mainly going to be a new computer. The Hard drive is a seagate, and the powersupply is 650W.

Mainly wanting to just replace the RAM/CPU/Grapics/vidcard/MOBO

Alright check these.

For your MOBO
option #1 cheap yet good

option #2 a tad more expensive but worth it
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813188012

RAM that I suggest if you choose one of those nForce boards:

Nice speed, stable, and pretty cheap.

As for a CPU what do you think about this?
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115018
Core 2 Quad, very good, I'm buying one with my new pc.

as for Video cards, I highly suggest an 8k series GeForce, best out there IMO

A cheap way to go is an 8500 GT with 512mb GDDR2
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150245

or if you are willing to pay more for your grphx card, try the 512mb 8800 w/ GDDR3 512 mb RAM
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121224

Well, those are my suggestions, take a look and see if anything "Tickles your fancy" so to say. With those parts, they hold about under $700

*edit* If you're looking for real extreme motherboard, try this:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131235R It supports DDR3 RAM

I would go with a 8800GT 512mb for your GPU.

The quad core CPU that Astoroth88 posted is also what I would recommend or if you have more cash to spare on CPU get the 3.0ghz Core 2 Duo (Not that much more. it's what I have). The core 2 duo has higher clock and also has a fair amount of room to be over clocked. The quad is better with multi-tasking however I keep hearing that the quads aren't that much of a difference. In the future computers will make more use of the quad but for now the core 2 duo is still good. Core 2 Duo 3.0ghz is probably better for gaming then the cheaper quad CPUs (Q6600 ).

I would go with the EVGA 680i motherboard (also what I have).

That is around probably around $750 and then you need ram. 2x1GB can usually be had at around $60-$80. So around $800-$850 if you look for the deals ($835 on Newegg).

well when i built....rebuilt my comp...i spend only 400 but i thot it was ok.but i don't play crazy games or anything so...its ok i guess. i never had an amd processor so i decided to get this as my build:

AMD dual core x2 6000+ @ 3.0ghz, no overclock -160
Asus m2a-vm mobo....should've went for the asus m3a-vm...only 15 bucks more.-75
Kingston HyperX pc6400 2gb kit...2x1gb..... .-70

just so you know...try slickdeals.net or .com (iforget) and u could find ram for much cheaper.

they had ballistix (i think by crucial) 2gb kit for only $30 but it was too late for me. good luck w/ ur build.

really no reason to buy an amd right now as the c2d's outperform the amd's and the price is significantly better. the g.skill ram i bought, 2gb, was $45 shipped, and it's great ram.

for the graphics i would go for the HD3850 (512MB) fairly cheap good preformence it will get
play crysis at med settings @1024x768
