Building a computer (help)

memory advice Corsair not G.Skill
I would wait a little on buying your CPU, the new 45nms come out tomorrow
Other than that i like all your other choices. The motherboard may be more than you need. It has 4 DIMM slots for ram( if you only need two, so be it). The memory type is DDR2 1066. This is fine, DDR2 800 will work just fine, but you may be paying more to have a MB compatible with the better memory.

I would advise buying a case that does not come with a PSU. Picking out a case is one of my weaknesses. I do not really know what brands are great (other than Antec) and I also want to get one with at least 3 fans or so. This is another reason why the Antec 900 attracts me. It comes with three 120mm fans and a huge 200mm fan. Ask around, people on this forum can suggest a good case for your needs

ok thanks.... welll my total comes out to about 1 grand .....withought keyboard/mouse and od(what is that?) hahaha yahhhkinda bad....
and should get warranties or not..? from that list i posted what could i downgrade to get it to around 700$

Use your old monitor until you can afford a new larger LCD. The 17 inch monitors are way to small. Get at least a 19 inch or bigger.

ok that takes is down to 850 + keyboard mouse and od.....

ummm where would i find these things for less?

and if i take out the g.skill and put in a corsair it adds another 40-70 dollars right?

Theres nothing wrong with the Gskill memory. Go ahead and use it.

Newegg is about the cheapest you will find. Do you have a fry's electronics store near you? Sometimes you can find a good deal there.

You have no reason to say that. I am both a Corsair and G Skills owner. I have to strongly disagree with you. Corsair may be usually 99.99% non-DOA, but G Skills can be the same. They're both quality manufacturers, and they both have their reputations.

Picking a good case with a free PSU is fine. As long as you don't trust it with the rig you're building. Antec 900 is for the "overclocking, noisy is ok" type. For any other needs, Centurion 5 and Elite 330.
