Hey everyone, this is my first post here.

Anyways, I am soon going to be purchasing a new computer. I am looking for a desktop in the $2500 - $3000 price range.

I am wondering if http://www.shopping.hp.com/webapp/s...v1=High+performance&series_name=d4996t_series seems like a decent computer? Or if there is anything that seems not good with it.

I am thinking of selecting 64 Bit vista ultimiate, Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Quad processor Q6700 (2.66GHz) for a processor, 4GB DDR2-800MHz dual channel SDRAM (4x1024) for ram, the 512MB NVIDIA GeForce 8500GT, TV-out, DVI-I, HDMI graphics card, and "1TB RAID 0 (2 x 500GB SATA HDDs) - performance" for the hard drive.

The thing is, I don't see where it lists what motherboard that PC has. Also, does this seem like a good choice for a gaming PC?

Anyone know how many hard drives this computer could hold? Or if, with all these options, I should get a better fan or liquid cooling put in after I get it. (If that is possible.)

Yeah, lots of questions. Sorry.

Also, anyone have any other suggestions for a computer in that price range?

Paying that much for a computer is overkill and spending about 2,000 dollars will get u all u need. U definetly need to upgrade that video card to at least an 8800 gt or gts. Also dont both getting the q6700 because the q9450 is coming out tomarrow and will be cheaper and better.

What are you going to be doing with your new system? Gaming or what.

What you use it for makes a big difference on what system you get.

8500 will play like... crap. It's made for movies and stuff, NOT gaming. Custom Inc. FTW :P

+1

Build it yourself and you will easiliy save hundreds of dollars instead of buying from HP or another brand computer manufacturer. And the 8500GT cannot even play games (latest games anyways) at decent FPS even at low settings, so it's a no no.

If you are into gaming, get at least the HD3850 which is a very good card for the money. If you have the money though, go ahead and get a 8800GTS 512MB, a 8800GT or an HD3870. ;)
