You reckon it will actually make vista bearable?

Also a side note, lol any of you guys know how to make vista's start menu like the xp one? lol.

The service packs are free, unless you mean buy Vista with the SP built in. From what I've been reading it will be out mid-March. I would recommend buying the 64 bit version though, not the 32 bit.
 
I've been using this SP3 pack since it came out without issue until the other day..
I had slipstreamed it onto my install discs using nlite.

When trying to do an install on a system with the VT8237 chip the sata drivers (the f6 ones) failed to copy to the drive after formatting... They worked fine for the windows install to see the disc and format it..
I tried different drivers from 4.10 right up to the latest ones 5.60a and none of them worked.. ( I even tried slipstreaming a couple)
The install went just fine when I went back to my SP2 disc.

BTW.. I tried it on 2 systems for giggles, a socket a ECS board and a 754 DFI with the same results, so it likely wasn't the boards..

On a side note Vista SP1 has solved all my network file transfer and My Pictures screen saver problems. I installed it over a fresh install of Home Premium and it certainly is an improvement.

Why? I only have 2 gigabytes of random access memory. It's only $10 to upgrade from 32-bit to 64-bit from what I heard.

Why don't you just say 2GB of RAM? lol

I have searched Microsoft and I've never heard of this "$10 to upgrade" option, from what I've read you can actually only upgrade from a 32 bit OS to another 32 bit OS, and so on. You may have to even buy another copy of Vista if you want the 64 bit version.

Today either one is fine, although if you don't want to be forced to upgrade when you want more then 3GB of RAM, and/or want to use 64 bit apps when the eventually come out, then you should just get the 64 bit version to begin with. I'm using it now and I don't have any issues what so ever when it comes to finding drivers for my components, running newer games and apps, or even old games such as Age of Empires II (made in the late 90's).
