im was thinking about it, but i only play RTS games and the odd shoter's like fear,COD4, etc so i think this should do fine for now, i hope

Don't worry about him, he's obviously on crack if he thinks a E8400 is slow. 4GB would be nice for Vista, but 2GB will do just fine.

obviously i wasnt referring to the processor. i was referring that your running vista on 2 gb instead of 3 or 4 gb

you need to stop smoking crack, 2gb is perfectly acceptable for vista. vista only uses about 10% more RAM then xp

I’m going to run XP to start then Vista once it's a smother running program (when they fix some bugs) then I’ll run 4 gigs of ram

The video card you chose is a newer version of mine, so it should run fear much smoother than mine. (Mine is just slightly laggy at times)

Unless it's Ultimate. I'm doing it on Ultimate, and 1/2 the time virtual memory comes in during gaming

I don't think there's a difference between Home Premium and Ultimate that would suck more memory, most of it's features are just better networking capability. I could be wrong though.

I've been corrected, better security features and networking. Still, I don't see it taking up much more RAM.

It does, trust me on that part. Personal experience tells so. Once on plain idle with absolutely nothing going on, the Vista memory meter told me 33% was used. Out of 2GB too

home premium has the same utilization of RAM at idle

everything vista ultimate offers over home premium are features you must still activate/turn on, they arnt background
