I am not computer savvy. I have had my first computer for the past two years and have left everything the way I recieved it from store after it was set up my them. I read a comment about Norton Security Suite 2007 (which I have), that it will disable the Windows firewall automatically and now you are using Norton's firewall protection. I did check my computer and it has been turned off. Is this safe? What should I do? Let Norton firewall protect me or Windows firewall? Thanks all for any opinions.

Windows firewall provides only basic protection. If you have to choose, I would just keep the Norton Firewall in operation. You will be fine with that.

You may want to look through this section of the forum as although norton is a well known name, norton branded products aren't the best.

What Simon said. There are many significantly better options than Norton.

The two best firewalls at the moment are, believe it or not, free and require much less system resources than Norton.

They are Comodo 3.0 and Online Armor's free version.
