My friend wants me to host a server for him, for gaming, and wants admin.
I have no problem doing this, but all I do is set the server up, and give him full admin, thats it?

For any game that allows a dedicated server.


He has a few he wants to host, not at once but in the future.

CSS, COD4, TF2, stuff like that.
 
Can someone explain what " Hosting Game Server " means?
does hosting game server mean to upload the game+server+admin content to a FTP server? or what`?

p.s. i have created a dedicated server for cs:s(home server). and I know how to do it but I have also heard about FTP servers? is g4m.....(dude, you username) talking about FTP servers?
 
I am talking about a dedicated gaming server with admin and everything. Not an FTP server, sorry for the miscommunication.
 
exactly how much control do you want to give him though?

if he just needs hard drive access, a simple ftp server (or even windows built in one) could work for that. he could do whatever work on the servers on his own pc, and then upload the files that he changed to the server on your pc and have the server refresh them via in game commands (if possible).

if he needs to access of the computer or the server program itself as if he was there sitting at the pc, you could set up Terminal Services to allow him to directly access the computer as if he was at its monitor and manipulate things as he wanted. he would need to have a terminal services client and you'd set up a server on the computer to allow him to connect and do as he pleased.

or instead of terminal services, you could go with Remote Access to actually let him log into the pc as a user as if he was physically at the computer. doing this you could give him more detailed permissions as to what he can and can't manipulate on the computer.

Mani mod hasnt been updated in forever.

To make a CSS server first download, install, and update hlds (steampowered.com)

Then install metamod.

Then install sourcemod.

Read sourcemod manuel to add admins and learn sm_admin is comand to do admin...things.

As for other things like stats, sourcemod has a thousand other plugins.

Sorry, Im at school at the moment, but if you ask later and/or cant google, ill give you links for all those mods above later tonight.
