Ok, I have, what I think is a 2003, Compaq Presario, 1.8GHz AMD Athalon Proccesor, 756mb RAM, 80G Hardrive and what I think is a 32mb Video Card, if it has one. Now I want to make it into a gaming computer. Im thinking of going with another gig of RAM and a 254mb(?) video card but im not sure if I need a new Mobo for the video card or like I dont even know if it will work so before I start buying parts or anything do you think i can turn this into a half decent gaming computer or should I go buy a new rig. Also how can you tell the difference between the video card slots. I'm not sure if mine can even support a new graphics card or not.

If you want information about your system, go to google and look for "siw" and download it, once you run it, it'll display all of the components you need to know, and more, about your system.

Honestly I would consider buying a new pc, or making a new one yourself.

I would definitely create a new rig or buy a pc. Max capacity of 1.5GB RAM isn't sufficient if you want gaming. Specially for the most recent games from which some ask 2GB recommended.

The motherboard also doesn't give you much options I would say, you could find much better Mobo's at low prices.

Not to mention you would need a better processor in order to keep up with the games.

How much do you think it would cost? And do yo uthink i could keep the same parts and add a like mobo, video card and processor and stuff to the old one?

I wouldn't recommend that mobo, specially because it's "outdated". You could probably get a rig under $800.

Look at this thread for a rig under $1500

If you don't want that much, go to www.newegg.com and check to find what pieces you like and play around to find the configuration you seem fit.

Hm i dont need anything too big, just something to play like Spore and maybe world of warcraft but not anything too great. Im kind of under a budget.

A processor of 1.8GHz, 2GB Ram, DVD/CD-RW, 256MB GPU (GeForce 2 or better), and have 3GB available disc space.

That's what I would recommend for the computer you're looking for. DirectX 9.0 or latest possible download, you should download that once you get your pc.

Ok but then would i not just need 1.3 more gigs of RAM and a better video card because my mobo has a AGP slot so i could get a 8800 AGP Video Card.
