I ordered a 320gb 16mb buffer 7200 rpm HD from frys for 65 dollars. Is there going to be a problem connecting it to my sata 2 connections. If so, could i just replace the sata 2 wires with sata 1 wires, or am i just screwed. Also, i know sata 2 to sata 1 is 3 to 1.5 gb/s, but does this really matter since a HD cant transfer information that fast anyways.

they cant write that fast but with the SATA HDDS they can send up to 3Gs through your system thats what ive been told but im not sure if it is correct someone will have to correct me if im wrong please

I was told hard drive transfer rates were only like 100mb/sec, but i dont really know. Thats why i asked the question.

yes it will be fine, SATA and SATAII are backwards compatible. The cable however is the same for both, so switching out the cables won't make a difference.

Are you sure that the hard drive is an original SATA drive and not a SATAII drive?
