I was going to let a friend build another computer for me. he's an intel rep and said i wanted and would consider one high end computer. im not a gamer but was interested in a intel duel core extreme. of course he suggested i step down off the extreme. i think the motherboards have a fsb (1.2 gig). any suggestions of why i would or not go this route? and if i did where on line could i compare prices for this machine.

thanks........tremmor

do i want it....yeau.
do i need it....no.

its the last one before i retire.

If you have really deep pockets and want the best of the best....go extreme. I personally think its a waste of money to pay $1000 for a CPU when you can get one that's slightly slower for $300. Is your friend from Intel giving you a huge discount?

ok, thankyou.
your making me feel guilty already.

discount.......ummm. i don't know.
he mentioned before as you its very expensive.
im waiting. he's out of town.

One thing though. is there any processors that might be similar and a recommended motherboard? i would consider that if ya think im spending to much. im reasonable. money isn't the problem. but then again if others are equivalent i suppose that will work. start from the top and work down.
i'll get the stars out of my eyes and listen.

thanks

E8400 and a P35/P31/X38 series mobo is good, for dual core. Then you get to the Quad Extremes and Quads...

He'll probably make you get the QX9650. Most expensive one out there... like $1050 I think.
