Anyone play this, to me it looks like it may be similar to Oblivion, I may be wrong. Is it worth picking up, it won best RPG by a bunch of websites and mags. Comments?

Thanks.

Also for those who have played it should my comp run it no issues and on high settings? or med-high?

It really is an awesome game. It isn't like oblivion though, 3rd person viewpoint (behind the shoulder), linear gameplay, COMPELLING storyline, unique combat system, etc. You play as Geralt, a Witcher, a monster hunter. Utilizing both a normal "human slaying" sword, and a silver "monster slaying" sword, and a variety of "signs" (powers), you travel through a multitude of open area maps, taking on the main and any number of side quests, blah blah.. Basic RPG stuff. I compare it to Neverwinter Nights, but even better. If you're into RPGs, you're gonna like this.

Your system should play it maxed, at a number of higher resolutions. I did so on a 7600gt, though I hit alot of low frame areas later on, in the bigger lusher maps. Make sure to hit up the patch, it drastically lowers loading times, which was a big problem. You might also want to import the UK version, as here in the states it's been censored in a couple areas.

You know those reviews aren't meant to be taken seriously. Dude hates every game ever made, 'cept portal, and that's because he was paid big bucks to give it a thumbs up (not really).

It's supposed to be funny, satirical, it'll give you an idea of some of the weaknesses of the game, but even these weaknesses are nothing more than the opinion of a grouchy ol' brit with nothing better to do but rant about games he's probably never played. He makes good money probably, though. :D

Sorry for trying to introduce something funny..........

my friend says its like an mmorpg minus playing with other people. a series of go here, kill this many monsters, collect this many items, repeat. and after watching the escapists review, he seems to agree

I bought it and have been playing it, it is better than Oblivion IMO. More unique and refreshing. I guess I like the overall feel a little better, I do like the fact you can build your own guy in Oblivion however this game offers a unique environment and storyline based on an adult book with dark and brooding themes. I can see why it got best PC rpg by a lot of websites and mags. I am glad I bought it.

I have mine almost on all high settings and 14x anisotropic filtering and 2x AA. Looks great and average of 40fps.

>.> I dunno, alot of people seem to take this guy really seriously, I guess I get caught up with everyone doing so. :shrugs:

I think his accent is fake.

The comparison doesn't make a lick of sense to me. But seeing as I've played both and am not necessarily disposed to lumping them all into one boring genre, it wouldn't.

I agree, Have fun man!

Because he sounds like me when I put on the accent.

But it's mostly gut feeling. Yeah. Not that my gut is prescient or anything. I understand he comes from Australia, so my opinion doesn't seem to hold much water. Maybe it's because he talks so fast..
