ive recently purchased a an ASUS P5E-VM HDMI matx motherboard, after i replaced the motherboard with my old crappy acer, one of the fans suddenly became very load and windows vista wont start after the microsoft loading screen, heres a picture of dat screen:

windows just automatically restarts after 1 second of reaching to that screen, when it starts again, it'll ask me to lauch system repair. but all it does in there was to system restore. and it doesnt work because restoring still have my old motherboard information on the computer and not the new one. ive been told that i just needed to plug it in, and repair, but i never see the repair option, it has alwaysy been system restore. i donot have the windows vista disc since the computer was factory built when i bought it. all i have is a back up disc i made after the purchase which has all the original drivers and stuff.

the new cd that came with the motherboard is useless in dos, when i set to boot from the dvd drive and start from the cd, its in dos mod and tells me to insert a floppy or something once its in update BIOS or wutever it is. and my computer does not have a floppy drive. since i cannot go into windows i have no idea what to do.

to my knowledge and i could be completely wrong, i thought that in order for vista to work or your HDD that had/has an OS on it the mobos should be the same. If not you should reload windows. That is the only thing i can think of and like i said i may be wrong (so dont flame me) thanks

ive just reinstalled everything from the beginning, its working now, but i do not have any internet. even with the cable plugged in, and when i search for internet, it just says i have no internet hardware

make sure if have all your drivers install - now days we have motherboards with enthernet port drivers so you will need to install that for the internet to work.

You can not plug and play HDD's or motherboards. Upgrading a motherboard, you'll need to do a reformat or repair.

ive reinstalled windows already, but theres just no internet, i have the driver disc, but it doesnt show the option of installing it because it doesnt detect the hardware, and also, when i try to manually install the driver it just says not network adapter detected. please helllllllllllp

Do you see it in Device Manager?

nope i do not see it under device manager, theres no network adapter section in there that i have in this labtop. but when i go into BIOS and in ONBOARD DEVICE CONFIGURATION, i see that ONBOARD PCIE BGE LAN is enabled... and this was an acer factory built computer that came with vista installed, keep in mind that i did not build the computer, but ive changed the motherboard.

yes but the motherboard was JUST shipped to me this morning,, which is about 5 hours ago... so i doubt that the network adapter could be dead in 5 hours... god m so pissed off rite now..... RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWR

Mabe the network adapter is not activated in the BIOS. Have a look at the motherboard's manual see if there's such an option in BIOS.

yup it is, it says

Onboard PCIE gbE LAN [Enabled]
Lan Option ROM [Enabled]

the Lan option used to be disabled, but i enabled it cuz it din work, but once i enabled it, it still doesnt work...

As oscaryu1 pointed out, things can be shipped broken. Have you tried clicking the search for hardware changes button in device manager? Normally it would be automatically detected but it's probably worth trying
