Problematic USB?

Alright so here's the story, i've had quite a few ipods and a few have worked on my computer the others say they are not recognized by my computer. I just got a 4th generation (non photo) 40gb ipod and when i plug it in it says "USB device not recognized" then says something in a bubble about it malfunctioning. Like i said i've had other ipods that have worked and i am wondering why these have done this. Do you think it is my computer or the iPod?

well, it had happened once with me but with USB
I'd updated the BIOS and it worked

It syas something like "unknown USB device" im beginning to think it's a hardware problem on the iPod

You tried your Ipod in another computer yet?

no... i was going to do that ill do that and let u kno how it goes

try using the usb panels on the back of the pc. same thing for my antec 900 but in my case it was the psp. i'm guessing perhaps not enough front panel power?

iPod's have their own power source.
