Need some input on this laptop...

I bought one of those for my son with the Celeron Processor.It was $399 http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=7812644



SOme downsides to that computer as far as I am concerned...



ACer has their own crap installed on there that things like videos that you would normally play on Windows media player goes strait to the acer tools.I hate that option.I am going to wipe the HD and install XP and bypass all that acer crap that is on there.Between the ACER crap thats on there and Vista its taking up almost 33GB of HD space.BLAH!

UPDATE:

Instead of wiping the hard drive and installing xp I decided to turn off all the acer crap that was running and unnecessary start up programs.

This computer is running great now.Trucking along at some very fast speeds.

His came with a 80gb HD Its too small for Vista and the drive comes partitioned.The operating system and the acer tools are taking up 33gb of the 40 gb partition drive.All of your files have to be saved onto the other 40 gb.You can imagine how much that slows down your computer.

If I had to do it all over again I would buy a dell Vostro 1000.

Its on sale Today for $449 and its a heck of a lot of computer for the money.

Thanks for the input. I'll still doing some looking around, but I'll keep this one in mind. I enjoy my sony, but I would like to get something a little more up to date.

Ive been watching laptop prices for a couple of months now.

They creeped up right after the first of the year but they are steadily coming down in price.If you can wait a couple of more weeks I bet they will be even lower.
I would get one before the tax stimulus hits.Once the computer salesmen know that people have money coming in,,they will take advantage of it and hike the price back up.They are talking that will happen some time in may so I would say the best time to buy one might be between april 15th and May 1st.
