Also Known As: Olympic Torch hoax [Sophos]
Type: Hoax

The Olympic Torch Hoax is being spread through email. It has been reported that the following text of the hoax may differ slightly in the various messages going around. The email warns of a virus that burns the whole hard disk drive a computer. This virus does not exist.

When I saw that forwarded by someone known here as reputable I searched around for the obvious information seen at the link there and let that persion as well know the whole thing is bogus. But still to see it forwarded shows that people still get caught offguard by this type of crap!

Some may laugh now until someone on their own contact list or address book forwards one to them.

its fake. its just people like my grandmother that dont know how to use google and believe everything they are sent  it does not exist and if it did it would be extreamly hard to do what it says it does

Yes...the worst that can be is...format the hard drive or the one that can order the fans to stop working...if that even exists, but I heard it does, lol.

It doesnt exist, false alarm by PCeye before he checked it out. Thats been going around for a couple of years.

It's not a false alarm!

It's a common sense warning never to get taken in by this type of crap! It was checked out while a good link was needed to show just what this variation is.
