LG, Samsung, Viewsonic are good brands. Any will work really, you should try and get something with a fairly fast response time if it is for a gaming system. Go for 5ms or under.

$180-$200 for a 19" wide screen. Most of the models seen at http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=2010190020+1309821317+1301919996+4017&name=%24100+-+%24200 have a 5ms response time.

The Viewsonic ViewDock 19" wide screen model here was caught with a $40 mail in rebate for $219.95 at a local office supply store. No S&H there to add. http://www.viewsonic.com/products/lcddisplays/xseries/vx1945wm/

TigerDirect has a Hanns-G model seen for $179.99 at http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3289214&CatId=2388

Well that saved on shipping costs anyways. But if you have to return it for any reason(hopefully not but) for that little extra you can also look at some 22" models.

I guess you went with a package deal at BestBuy then. :P

lLately I've been catching a few articles on 22" lcds and how gamers like the larger displays since the prices have come down on those. The widescreen models generally run cheaper then the standard most of the time.

Originally I had a standard 19" Viewsonic already picked out and ready to order until spotting a clearance type sale with the mail-in rebate on the widescreen model. But besides that I immediately noticed the higher base stand for the IPod plus usb ports, a headphone jack, and of couse seeing the DVI input being the video card here was seeing a DVI to vga adapter for the old smaller lcd.

What HP model did you go for?

It's not shabby like some Dell models appear. The specifications show 5ms for a good response on that model as seen at http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/ca/e...2242-12142244-12142244-12142244-79804086.html

It wouldn't be favored by many gamers still while should still work out. On the Viewsonic here I first had the vga cable in use with the vga to dvi since that was required for the old lcd and now with the dvi in use and the latest Catalyst 8.2 on the colors are vibrant more then ever! Hopefully you will see similar results there.

yeah ive never used a lcd with DVI picture looks great! love it....

hey i have a acer 22 " lcd.

it was around 155 from pc world. its excellent qaulity.

Glad it worked out for you there. But pc world won't help zer0 c00ll since he is in the U.S. plus the price of 155 would be about $387.50 here. while better models can be found at this time far quite a bit less.

When replacing the old vga type here I expected to see a noticable difference from just going for a larger sceened model let alone switching from vga to DVI. But the HD 2600 needed an adapter for the other one having twin DVI outputs. Even when first using the vga type cable and card's adapter you could readily see the difference.

I havea I-INC AH191D, (5ms response time). And love it. Just my personal opinion.

The important thing is to select one that suits your needs the best for what you can afford. Some articles seen lately take notice of the low prices being seen on 19-22" models by various brands. With the big changeover to digital coming up next year for tv broadcasting a large number of HD/DVI capable lcds will be seeing lower prices.
