Are You Kidding... Thats Impossible!

You won't find too many people pouring liquid nitrogen on a cpu. That's called going to extreme lengths to lower temps there! bbbrrrrrrr..... Your finger would break off after instantly freezing solid if you got any of that on you!

That wasn't any P4 to begin with if you read the title alone.

"The annual Benchtec UK LN2 meet plays it cool with Core 2 Quad CPUs running at 5.6GHz"

They are talking about ocing with nitrogen with the newer quad cores by Intel.

^ I don't think he was especifically refering to the ones in the article, he was just saying that he has seen P4 run at 8GHz before...

my celeron does 5.6ghz with ease...lol

but really that's crazy. 5.6ghz can you imagine how fast that thing is.

What they did there was go even further to cool the cpus down below what you ever see in someone's desktop for the contest there. The P4s were clock speed orientated primarily. But you have to raise up the mulitpliers quite a bot regardless to get to those speeds.

whats sad is even if you could overclock your p4 to 15GHZ it would still stand no chance next to a stock QX9770

Yeah I've seen stuff like that before. I definitely wouldn't do that on a regular basis though. haha.

Liquid nitrogen is a "not for home use" method being paid for by someone for the magazine article or the contest brings prizes of some type. "hey crank those to see who gets further and you will get... blah blah blah and a trophy!".

cold stuff, mostly

Try super collllddd... bbbrrrrrr.... like well below sub zero how about -200 degrees farenheit for a start? That would convert to... -128.9C rounded figure further rounded to -129C from -128.8888889 depending on expression.

Instant freeze for anything that comes into contact with. Dry ice is seen in ice skating rinks or freezers without power for temp storage mostly.
